My first experience with Kindred Bravely was one of the brand’s nursing-pumping bras that I got as a hand-me-down. Unfortunately, it was too big, and I had to pass it on to another mama. But it got me hooked: what was this fascinating bra from such a cool maternity brand?

Now that I’m in my second pregnancy, I had a chance to try Kindred Bravely’s products (as many as I could!), along with a bra that fit right. In this review, I’ll tell you what I’ve honestly learned about the brand, the products that are worth it and what to consider as you shop.

Let’s begin, mama!

This review has NOT been sponsored by Kindred Bravely; however, I would like to give a big thanks to the brand for sending me the season’s best-selling products to feature and try.

Quick summary on what to know

  • In my own words, Kindred Bravely is a brand for moms: from pregnancy through nursing and postpartum, and with a lot of products to wear in “everyday life” once your breastfeeding journey is complete.
  • It’s a woman-led and woman-founded, so KB is not messing around when it comes to REAL products that really work through pregnancy and nursing.
  • I’ve tried run-of-the-mill nursing bras from Amazon, and they’re put to shame by Kindred Bravely. The quality from KB is top notch for bras, clothing and accessories.
  • One thing I like is that their website features diverse models who are not airbrushed and who have real pregnancy and postpartum bodies. It makes me feel seen and included (and I hope it is the same for you).

What I tried (maternity, nursing, postpartum)

I ordered everything in size XS, which is my true pre-pregnancy size. I forgot that I’m usually not an XS when it comes to bras (typically a S, although it varies), so that may have been my downfall.

Tops

  • Bamboo Maternity & Nursing Long Sleeve T-shirt / Grey Heather - XS
  • Bamboo Maternity & Nursing Tank / White - XS

Pajama Set

  • Clea Bamboo Long Sleeve Pajama Set / Granite - XS

Bottoms

  • Everyday Lounge Jogger / Black - Regular (27”) / XS

Bra

  • Sublime® Hands-Free Pumping & Nursing Sports Bra / Black - Regular (B-D) / XS

Dresses & Sweaters

  • 2-in-1 Maternity & Nursing Midi Dress / Garnet - XS
  • Chloe Cardigan Sweater / Chai - XS/S

As you read this list of the KB products I tried, I’ll request that you keep in mind that products vary from season to season; while there are some evergreen best-sellers through the years, it is possible that products sell out and are not restocked or relaunched from year to year.

How it went (fit and quality)

Here’s how my try-on went. Keep in mind I was 14 weeks pregnant when I tried everything on, so my fit opinion may be updated in the future as my baby grows a whole lot.

Maternity & Nursing Shirts

Overall, my assessment is that these tops run big. They’re not fitted styles (not body-con, not tight), but they have a dab too much space on me in the armpits, arms, overall length and width.

Regardless, they may work great for you, and that is why we’re here, mama! I want to review all these pieces with everyone in mind, while giving you the nitty gritty on how they fit me at first try.

I am vibing with the bamboo viscose, which has weight to it, and is unbelievably soft and comfy. These may both very well fit me tons better at the end of the third trimester and into postpartum.

Pajama Set

I tried on the bottoms first, and they fit so well I nearly cried. “Finally!” I wanted to rejoice. “Maternity PJ bottoms that fit me perfectly!”

This pajama set is soooo uber soft and bouncy. It’s lovely, really. My search for the perfect maternity pajamas stops here.

While the top ran pretty spacious and roomy, that’s not so much of an issue as I plan to wear this pajama set into my third trimester for lounging and sleeping, and I even said to Dan that I plan to take it in my hospital birth bag.

Maternity & Postpartum Bottoms & Joggers

These are the first maternity joggers that haven’t run gigantic on me! I say that because as someone who wears XS, often the smallest size offered by any given brand runs big and I have no smaller size to choose from. But… the Everyday Lounge Joggers are PERFECT! And they’re so soft I wanted to wear them all day and never take them off.

They’re an under-belly style that’ll grow with me as my baby grows, and heck, I’d even wear these way after my baby is born, just because they’re cute, incredibly soft and pretty stylish!

Hands-Free Pumping & Nursing Sports Bra

This pumping-nursing sports bra is accurately marketed and branded, so yes: it’s one of the best nursing bras/pumping bras I’ve put on. Unlike other nursing bras from leading brands that may have strange shapes or layers showing through my T-shirt, the Kindred Bravely nursing/pumping bra has a snug fit and padding in the right places, for a no-stress fit under a tee or tank.

Size & fit: For sizing, I’m actually between an XS and S, but for the earlier end of my pregnancy, I can wear the XS as a maternity bra that’s comfy, supportive and stretchy.

What I will tell you about Kindred Bravely’s sizing is that the bras come in Regular cup sizes, as well as “Busty” options. They come in sizes XS to 2X, which I find really inclusive for moms whose bodies grow in all sorts of ways during pregnancy and beyond.

A few more things to know, as this is likely the product you want to know most about:

  • The padding is removable!
  • The bra has dual functionality for pumping and nursing. The way that works is with a double clip-down system: the first clip drops down to reveal a pump-friendly opening, and the second drops down for less coverage and a nursing bra opening.
  • I like that it’s comfortable, supportive and high-quality enough to take me from pregnancy to nursing and maybe even forever (I say this as someone who wore nursing tank tops even after weaning from nursing, LOL!).

Maternity & Nursing Dress

This 2-in-1 dress is called a “midi,” but fits me like a “maxi.” I actually don’t have a problem with that: I was looking for maternity maxi dresses in my pregnancy wardrobe, and even though it runs long, it actually does NOT run big. So, this is great news.

The way this dress works is that it is a super stretchy ribbed material that’s form-fitting during pregnancy. The sleeves come as a removable cover that doubles as the “nursing” part of the outfit. To nurse in this dress, you could pull down the neckline, and pull up the sleeve/top attachment. You’d get the baby comfortably in there, maybe while also using a nursing shawl.

One more thing is that this dress is a duo for both summer/spring and winter/fall. For summer wear, I just won’t wear the sleeve attachment, and then there we have it: my four-season maternity and nursing outfit that’ll take me from pregnancy to breastfeeding my little one.

Cardigan sweater (maternity, nursing, postpartum, lifestyle)

It’s gorgeous and cozy, perfect for wrapping up my entire body during my winter pregnancy, and also perfect for using as a nursing cover when I’m nursing my newborn in early spring (and the next fall and winter, I hope!).

This piece is the most versatile of the bunch, because it’s an open cardigan with lots of space (and length) everywhere. It can be used for all times in motherhood, whenever the weather gets chilly. I like the softness, the warm color, the cute side pockets and the robe style. While it’s a cozy piece for home, it would also look great dressed up with jeans and boots, out for a date.

Why I wanted to try Kindred Bravely

What I knew about Kindred Bravely was limited until I perused the website for a good while and learned more. I was aware that the brand made a best-selling pumping/nursing bra, and the maternity loungewear seemed familiar. What else?

As I learned more, I saw that the company is down-to-earth with a for-women by-women feeling. I liked the REAL website models, of all sizes, from small to curvy. And with an overwhelming ton of great reviews on the products, I knew I couldn’t go wrong, in trying out a variety of products from KB for my second pregnancy.

Plus, here’s the main kicker: I deserve great maternity wear and pumping/nursing gear! I had avoided buying maternity clothes during my first pregnancy, just to prove that I didn’t need nice new stuff.

But, something I did when I first found out I was pregnant again was grumble at the large container of second-hand maternity clothes I had stored away in the basement. It was time to upgrade!

Comparison to other maternity brands

I think that is important to know about Kindred Bravely is that the brand’s bread and butter, and what it does best, is the nursing-pumping bras and the loungewear. For me, it’s the silky soft bamboo bamboo viscose that is so comforting when my pregnant body is aching and sore.

Many of the Kindred Bravely pieces that are not bras or loungewear are chilled-out and relaxed solid-color finds like leggings, hoodies, t-shirts, crew neck sweatshirts, dresses and swimwear!

For now, I can compare Kindred Bravely to other maternity brands that are actually cute like Quince, Blanqi, Motherhood Maternity, Seraphine and Hatch. Although, what I think I’ve found is that Kindred Bravely’s prices are *actually affordable.

Who wants to break the bank on maternity-wear anyway?

Plus, the great thing about so many of the KB products is that they have life beyond pregnancy: they’re for nursing, pumping and general postpartum lifestyle. As a mom, I know firsthand how busy life gets and how I just want to be comfy!

Overall recommendation

I give Kindred Bravely a resounding yes: it’s worth it. The prices are what I’d “expect,” rather than be shocked by. I’d put KB into the basket of affordable brands that make pregnancy a bit more smooth and easy by making basics that make me feel good.

Plus, I would totally recommend checking out the SALE page. This is the best way to get Kindred Bravely at a discount, especially on “bundles” like the Labor & Delivery Bundle, or a Nursing Essentials Bundle, which make shopping easy.

Starting shopping sort of early is a good thing to do in the first trimester, especially for sale items, so that you can enjoy them in the second and third trimesters and not have paid so much!

Where to buy

It’s best to get Kindred Bravely maternity, nursing, pumping and postpartum essentials at the Kindred Bravely website. You’ll get to choose from all the in-stock inclusive sizes, as well as inseam lengths, for bottoms. These options may not be available on other sites that sell Kindred Bravely apparel.
