I’ve been getting my steps in with FlexiSpot walking pads ever since they came out with them. They’re a decent thing to have in my home office so that I can get some walking in at my standing desk, while working.
Although I was happy with my larger FlexiSpot walking pad, storage was kind of an issue. I tried the FlexiSpot 180° Foldable Walking Pad (Fold X) and was pretty surprised to see that I like it better because of how it stows and invites itself to be used, rather than stored away for days at a time.
In this review, find my complete thoughts on if your home office would benefit from the convenience of this under-desk treadmill that folds in half nicely.
180° Foldable Walking Pad (Fold X): Pros (What I like)
- The size, by far. It’s about 21” by 39”.
- Weight: It’s 40 lbs (the size of a kid), so it’s easy to carry around, maneuver between rooms and store when not in use.
- Low-profile: it can easily slide under your bed for storage, or some couches/sofas.
- Stays upright on its own when folded (when kept in a low-traffic area/safe spot)
- The feel: it’s sturdy on the ground, with adjustable feet that help with uneven floors. (I use it with 2 feet on a wood floor and 2 feet on a low-pile carpet)
- Noise level: You can have a conversation or a meeting over the sound of it while in use, easily. Footsteps likely have the same sound volume.

180° Foldable Walking Pad (Fold X): Cons (What to know)
- The weight limit is 264 lbs., so this is higher than the competition (220 lbs or so), but some adults may weigh too much.
- Because it folds, you can sort of feel the seam when you walk across it. But I strongly recommend using house shoes on it, so that you don’t feel it, and it doesn’t bother me at all. The functionality of the fold outweighs the feel of walking near the seam, completely.
- The overall width (~16 inches on the belt): It’s not a regular-sized gym treadmill. You’ll be using it as a walking pad, NOT a running treadmill, so assume your hands are always safely on your desk. I do not feel unstable using it, despite the narrower total width.
Overview of this foldable walking pad for your standing desk
I was feeling a little bad about working from home and sitting all day. I even have a FlexiSpot walking pad upstairs in my bedroom at my desk station there, but the thought of moving my desk and dragging it out from under my bed feels like a chore.
For some reason, this foldable walking pad feels so much more manageable and lends itself to being used MORE, because of the small footprint.

It’s also the ease of use of the product. It feels more like an accessory, rather than a piece of furniture. And for an under-the-desk treadmill, it’s just what I need. In recent months, I’ve realized that a home office treadmill like this one is an essential item for my WFH setup.
The other benefit is that I have a secondary workstation, and because this one is so small, I can leave it here. If I move around my workstation (standing desk, desk chair…) I can make my alternate WFH environment into a play area for my kids, or a hallway.
I use the FlexiSpot E7 Standing desk, which I discuss in this review where you can see if it’s a fit for your setup.
How does this foldable walking pad work?
It’s pretty simple, and that’s thanks in part to the fact that there aren’t a ton of adjustments to analyze.
You do need the remote to change the speed, because there are no physical buttons on the walking pad itself. Keep this in mind.
One tip from my use of it: when you unfold it, make sure the belt is centered, because it can shift slightly. You wouldn’t want it to be lopsided and snag.

How easy is it to fold? Where can it be stored?
It’s all in the friction. You can push down fairly hard to lock it into place, and you can pull it up with a good bit of force.
It never feels like you’re going to break it. It feels natural, which is what I want in a standing desk walking pad. I’ve done quite a few meetings with it now, and no one has really commented that I feel like I’m walking, and no one can hear the footsteps or the movements.

Who is it for? Who’d benefit the most?
This foldable walking pad from FlexiSpot is for anyone who works from home, or anyone who is struggling to get steps and get off the couch during their workday. You know by now that NOT moving around during your day is one of the biggest mistakes people make when working from home.
It’s perfect for cold or inclement weather when you want to meet your steps goals, all at home, all while working. It’s also a physical activity that I can do if I need to do some work, even while my kids are around, as long as they’re not touching or trying to use it.
I’ve been using the FoldX under-desk treadmill for checking my emails, and responding to messages, as well as standing during meetings. I’ve even edited videos while walking (this just requires more focus). Overall, I’d say it’s even one of the best ways I’ve made the most of my standing desk setup, because I can have a walking pad under it.

You can make a deal with yourself that if you want to get off your bottom while watching videos and having phone conversations, that you can do it all on this foldable under-desk treadmill in a home office.
This product is also for people who might want to bring this walking pad around their house, or share it between family members—parents, students, grandparents, etc.
The fact that it is movable is one of the highlights of it. Most adults can carry it, or find some help to do so, but the bottom line is that it is incredibly more “mobile” than previous FlexiSpot walking pads that I have owned.

Comparison to the FlexiSpot MotionX Incline Walking Treadmill
I have another walking pad from FlexiSpot, which you can read about at my FlexiSpot MotionX Ultra Auto Incline Walking Treadmill review.
This one is heavier and clunkier and it’s actually off-putting for me to use it as often as I’d like. Because I got the foldable one that I like better, I’m going to be giving the MotionX to a family member who’d really like to own one. I never really wound up using the incline, so this is going to be more valuable to someone who wants that type of under-desk walking.
Can you run on it?
No, you definitely shouldn’t run on the FoldX walking pad. You could do a brisk walk, though.
If you want to do something passive, like watch videos, TV or listen to audiobooks or podcasts, you could bump up the speed toward the maximum, but it will be what you’re comfortable with.
I do keep tabs on the timer itself, but I don’t look at calories burned.

How fast does it go?
The max speed on the FoldX walking pad is 3.7mph. Any faster would be unsafe for usage at a standing desk.
I find that anywhere between 1.8-2.0mph is a good speed for walking while working, so I don’t lose my mind (or fall off).

FlexiSpot 180° Foldable Walking Pad (Fold X): Is it worth it?
Yes, this one’s worth it and I’ve used it every day since it came in the mail. It’s a quick home office improvement that makes me excited.
It comes fully assembled. That’s such a value-add. I took it out of the box, unfolded it, and it was ready to use. I was pretty impressed. A lot of these home office accessories can require some time for assembly or getting to know them, but this walking pad for home is really simple, in my experience.
We all want to stay fit while working from home, so I’ve found that getting up to do some walking while I am working or taking meetings has been ideal.

Where to get it
Your best bet is to get this home office foldable walking pad at the FlexiSpot website. They give you a 2-year warranty, which is helpful when you’re investing in a home office product like this one.
One more thing (a caution about this under-desk treadmill)
FlexiSpot says not to use this product on carpet or rugs, as there’s a risk of fire (as there would be with any type of portable walking pad). So please, keep it on tile, wood or other hard and flat flooring, to use it properly and safely.
