If you are wondering: “Hey, are those Quince jeans any good?” then I’m going to tell you straight. Because I tried three types of Quince denim: some good ole blue jeans, a pair of colored denim and a trusty pair of denim jean shorts.

If you’re also a skeptic (because how could good jeans be so cheap?), then lean in to listen: I am about to show you all about Quince’s denim jeans and why they might be a good idea.

Real talk: why I think Quince denim jeans are awesome

  • The fit: I can’t lie, I got a good fit with all the three types of Quince denim products I tried.
  • The price: I have tried hard, and I can’t find jeans this cute for such a low price at most other places on the Internet.
  • The styles: the styles of these jeans are exactly what I wanted—a way to try the latest jeans trends, and not break my wallet in half.
  • The return policy: I’ll detail this more at the end, but the TLDR is that you have 365 days (a year!) to return your Quince denim jeans if you realize they don’t suit you (and if you kept the tags on).
  • What’s yet to come: probably more styles, to be honest. Jeans are the type of thing that have an “it” style every year, and I foresee Quince being able to match that demand in the fashion world.

What I got from Quince’s jean line

Hear me out: I’ve been changing size a lot in the past two years (and even more in the past decade), but I’m landing on a size 25 Waist for myself when I order jeans.

I’m also short, at 5’2”. Have you seen my popular Quince for petites review? I have a history of a lot of challenges in finding good jeans that come in appropriate lengths. In my fashion life, I’ve had to cuff jeans, hem jeans or trip over my jeans that stayed too long.

Well, I had really good luck with all things Quince. Here’s what I ordered and what showed up at my house in the mail:

How does Quince denim fit?

I have three stories about the fit of Quince denim jeans, as I tried three different pairs of Quince jeans products.

Waist sizing

First, the Bella Stretch Relaxed Straight Jeans, in Atlantic Blue. These had the snuggest waist for me in size 25. And actually, I’ve been close to a size 26 in other brands lately (like Faherty Brand). I think they felt snug because the waist and bum are pretty fitted, with the legs getting wider after the thigh. And I think the fact that the denim is heavier than the other jeans I tried made them feel a bit more stiff and tight.

Onward, to the Bella Stretch Wide Leg Jeans, in Wine Tasting Red. I got them also in a 25 Waist. They are more forgiving. I didn’t have to worry about having space to tuck in my shirt, and had plenty of space for zipping them up with a cami underneath. I’d wear these if I plan to go out to dinner and have a gigantic meal.

Lastly, the jean shorts. In a size 25 Waist, these are actually shockingly spacious. Maybe it’s because the fit is more relaxed and vintage, like a high-waisted retro feel. In any case, I’ve never had to suck in to get comfy in these, and they keep stretching out with time.

Length and inseam sizing

For the Bella Stretch Relaxed Straight Jeans, I was delighted to see that they are available in inseams from 26 to 32 inches. I rarely see a 26 inseam available anywhere, and jeans are usually 28” inseams by default, with 30” sometimes available in select styles. For example, Quince’s barrel jeans only have a 28” inseam available and there are no other options.

So for me being petite, this was an opportunity to rejoice. I think I even skipped right to ordering the Bella Stretch Relaxed Straight Jeans because of the 26” inseam and I just hoped I’d love them (I do).

The Bella Stretch Wide Leg Jeans come in a 28” inseam as the smallest choice. I went with this, and they are a full-length pair of jeans on me, but this is fine for wearing with most shoes I own. I think they’re really cute, and I’d never assume that I can find just any jeans I want with a 26” inseam like the Relaxed Straight ones.

The shorts: the product page is no longer available because the item was discontinued, but they seem to have a 5”(ish) inseam. There were no inseam options, but the fact that they are a high-waist retro style on me makes the fuller inseam pretty fine. I like wearing these with a tucked-in shirt and sandals in the summer.

For petites

If you’re shorter than 5’4” and reading this, I’m going to get right to the point. You will see on the Quince website that the models are 5’9” and wearing a size 26. I don’t know anyone who’s that tall and wears jeans that small.

Anyway, I hope my real-person size information helped you out. If you can find a style that comes in a 26”-28” inseam length, I think you’ll have some good luck.

Does Quince have good denim jean styles?

When Quince debuted denim jeans, I didn’t know if I was interested. I have plenty of jeans! Most of my jeans are from Mott & Bow, and I talk about all the styles at my Mott & Bow denim review. I thought I was set, but then wide-leg, relaxed and barrel styles became the “it” jeans to have. And I’m happy about that!

So… enter Quince. They are somehow making denim styles for everyone, whether you are short (like me), tall (like some of my friends!) or a regular woman looking for basic denim or special styles like kick flare or boyfriend jeans.

With lots of variety in wideness and skinniness, there is a Quince jean style for everyone. And at the flat low price, wow: who wouldn’t be impressed?

Styling my Quince denim

I’m a casual gal. I’ve also ordered A LOT OF QUINCE THINGS in my shopping life (see my experience in, “[Is Quince legit?]”). On an average day, I am wearing a T-shirt or sweatshirt. On a dress-up day, I’m wearing a sweater or simple solid-colored blouse.

My Quince denim is going to live a casual life. So far, I have worn my Quince denim shorts for an entire beach weekend (barely took them off), and as my go-to pair of shorts in late August and early-to-mid September.

I have worn my Quince denim jeans while working from home, picking up my kids from school and going out shopping. My wine-red wide-leg jeans are great for a girls night out, date night or weekend daytime event.

I got them in red because all other colors were sold out in my size, the day I ordered them. I thought, “OK, well, this’ll be fun because I used to own wine-red pants back when I worked in my NYC office, and I haven’t thought about them until now.”

The price

How is Quince making jeans so CHEAP? I really don’t know. I have jeans from H&M that were $40, and I have jeans from brands like Faherty and Seven for All Mankind that retail at $150-250.

Is there a difference when it comes to what you get, for the price?

Jeans experts may be able to tell based on denim quality, but I’ve tried three types of Quince jeans (that all feel slightly different, by the way!) and I have to say… they are all GREAT!

You’ve probably seen my list of the cheapest things from Quince and while the Quince jeans aren’t bottom-of-the-barrel cheap, they are comparably cheap to other leading brands.

I won’t be spending upwards of $100-200 anymore on jeans. I’m happy with $50 Quince jeans that look incredible on my form and are made to last.

Complaints and criticisms

Quince is a growing company and I know they are trying their best to ship out thousands of parcels per day across all their categories to meet demand. The criticisms I have are these:

Size and color availability

If you see something on the Quince website and you like it, and you find it in your size in a color you want, you have to act fast. This is something that drives me a little crazy about online shopping: you have to trust that the website is syncing with the company’s inventory and that it’s showing correctly that, “Only 3 left!” is accurate.

Quince seems to be doing an OK job at this, in my opinion. And by that I mean that the “3 left!” warning is no joke. The week I ordered my Quince denim, I checked what I wanted from the Wide-Leg style of jeans on Monday and put a Size 25 Waist in blue denim in my cart.

By Wednesday, it was sold out. Only red and green jeans were left. That is why I went with the red: I wanted to try them rather than not, in the specific wide leg style, and I didn’t want size 25 to be completely gone without a note as to when they’d be restocked.

My note: Quince often does let you “Join a waitlist” to be contacted when an item comes back into stock in your chosen size or color. It’s not clear how long this can take, depending on the product and category.

Items being discontinued

The jean shorts I keep mentioning got discontinued right at the end of August, and that’s why I can’t link them for you. I searched the Quince website high and low to find other styles of denim jean shorts and there aren’t any! There are a few pairs in Men’s, but not in women’s (and I say this at the time of writing). I will update this information when I can.

Should you get Quince jeans?

I think there are more reasons to try Quince denim than reasons not to. You can even find the sustainability information about Quince’s denim products right on the product page: like how they are made from organic certified cotton and produced in certified factories that improve supply chain conditions.

My quick reasons to get Quince denim jeans are:

  • A good fit: for me, this is everything, and I feel like I didn’t even try too hard with Quince denim jeans. I got all my fits right the first time just by going off my regular jeans size.
  • Quality: specifically, the Atlantic Blue straight relaxed jeans are heavy durable denim. The Wide-Leg jeans have a more lightweight feel and good stretch.
  • An easy-to-shop website with easy-to-search style types and quite a bit of variation if you are picky
  • 365-day FREE returns if you realize you want to exchange your jeans or get a refund
  • Fast and free shipping: who has time for less than this?
  • A bunch of other addiction-worthy product categories like tops, dresses, silk and of course cashmere (read my Quince cashmere review
